Background On April 14th, 1865, John Wilkes Booth, a well known actor of his time, shot and killed president abraham Lincoln shortly after the end of the civil war. Upon jumping off the stage, he would break his leg and shout, "Sic Semper Tyranis," or As always to tyrants before escaping into the streets of washington along with fellow conspirator bill herold. Through the wake of the next few days, Booth would be chased through the countryside by the union army and other government officials such as Laffeyette c. baker. Booth would eventually would be cornered into an old farmhouse in Port royal, Virginia, and be shot and killed by Boston corbrett. But prior to Booth's death, a series of unexplained occurences would unfold, even leading up to the trials of coconspirators Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, George Azterodt, Samuel Mudd, and others. such occurences like Lincoln's bodyguard, John Parker abondoning his post the night of the assassination to go for a drink at a bar, the mysterious note left in vice president johnson's box by booth, and even the way the eventual conspirators due proccessing after being found guilty is all suspicious and leads to many questions of the entire assassination. Who is the mastermind behind the assassination plot? What were the intentions of the original conspirators?
